2018 Toyota Camry vs. 2017 Nissan Altima: Which Midsize Sedan is Better?

The newest addition to the Toyota sedan lineup is the 2018 Toyota Camry, which has been fully redesigned this year to offer more power, efficiency, features, and style. Some feel that it’s not the only family sedan worth considering, though, and drivers throughout Jacksonville Beach may find themselves considering the 2017 Nissan Altima as well. When you get down to the features and specs of both models, though, it’s clear that the redesigned Camry comes out on top! Find out more today, and then make the trip to Arlington Toyota in Jacksonville, FL.

Performance & Efficiency

The base engine on the all-new Camry is a 2.5L inline-four that’s good for 206 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, and all the while it’s still able to get an EPA-estimated 41 mpg highway and 29 mpg city. Upgrade to the 3.5L V6 to get 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, allowing you to chase thrills through the streets of Atlantic Beach.

The Altima’s base engine is also a 2.5L four-cylinder, but it only makes 179 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque while topping out at an EPA-estimated 39 mpg highway and 27 mpg city. Even if you move up to the Altima’s 3.5L V6, you’ll only see a boost up to 270 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque, power that pales when compared to the Camry’s max output.

Standard Features

Not surprisingly, both of these midsize family sedans come with a number of standard amenities, including Bluetooth® phone and audio, power windows and door locks, and air conditioning. From here, however, the Camry easily takes the edge. Only the 2018 Camry comes standard with a premium driver assist suite in the form of Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P), as well as other features like cruise control, a backup camera, and a cabin air filter. Plus, the Nissan Altima only gets a standard four-speaker stereo, while the Camry’s premier Entune entertainment system gets six speakers.
