What’s Changed in the Tundra for 2027?

Toyota’s updates are modest–the most noticeable change is a revised front fascia with a redesigned grille. Higher trims can be equipped with a brighter grille-mounted LED light bar, Rigid fog lights, and front recovery hooks.

Adventure-minded buyers have a new option in the Toyota Tundra Trailhunter package, which joins the lineup on the SR5 trim. Designed for drivers who spend as much time on the trail as they do on the pavement, it expands the Tundra’s already impressive off-road offerings.

Toyota also expands the truck’s tech with a larger infotainment display made standard across the lineup. Updated Digital Key functionality, a standard Drive Recorder dash camera, and an available 2.4-kW inverter for i-Force Max models round out the biggest changes.

As of this writing, the Tundra’s pricing is not available.

Familiar Power and Mileage Numbers

The Tundra’s standard engine is a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6, producing either 348 or 389 horsepower, depending on the trim level.

And drivers looking for maximum performance can choose the i-Force Max hybrid, which combines a twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor to generate 437 horses and 583 lb-ft. Both engines pair to a 10-speed automatic and RWD or optional 4WD.

When properly equipped, the Tundra tows up to 12,000 pounds and carries payloads of up to 1,850 pounds. Fuel economy also stays the same. RWD gas models are 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, and FWD versions (also gas) are 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. Hybrid models offer the best balance of power and efficiency, with estimates of up to 20 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Range in hybrid RWD form is a little over 700 miles.

Tundra Tech Gets a Nice Upgrade

One of the biggest improvements for 2027 is inside the cabin. Every Tundra now receives a 14-inch touchscreen running Toyota’s latest multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Higher trims feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and premium JBL audio. Depending on the configuration, buyers can also choose trailer assist tech with an integrated trailer brake controller, power-extending tow mirrors, a bed camera, and a power tailgate.

Toyota also upgrades every 2027 Tundra to Safety Sense 4.0. The suite now includes adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, road sign recognition, and Proactive Driving Assist.
